out with the old and in with the new...
yet another year has come to an end.. thanks goodness... 2009 was the year of "Murphy's"
you know "
Murpy's Law" where anything that can go wrong will go wrong...
i don't think that the whole year was a waste just 3/4 of it...
let's reflect shall we.
January 2009 - Happy New Year... toot toot!
i was determined to stay up until the ball came down on Times Square in New York.
reality: fell asleep once again 10 minutes before midnight... darn darn..
February 2009 - Leap Year... SYKE !
stoked to have an extra day to get things done.
reality: next one won't happen until 2012 ?!?
March 2009 - Sweet 16...
celebrated the bad el's Sweet 16 and another miracle..
reality: just because you made dinner reservations oh a month in advance, don't expect the restaurant [ROMANO'S MACARONI GRILL located at the Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii] to have your table ready even though you and your guests arrived 15minutes early and waited for another 20 minutes before finally stalking over to California Pizza Kitchen {bravo, by the way} where they were more than willing to accommodate a party of 20... AND to add insult to injury, Romano's actually had the audacity to call and say "where are you, your table is ready and we're waiting for you" which entitled me to walk back across the way to ridiculous that restaurant to tell the manager just where i thought he should shove his meatballs!

April 2009 - Wood Pig redux
april was a great month.. we got to celebrate wood pig and she had a grand old time at the creepy restaurant... we even got grandma to come over for a visit... it was great..
reality: it was a great month... lol
May 2009 - Mr. Murphy reared his ugly head
it was bad.
reality: it was really bad
June 2009 - look ma, i can fly
june was the month of endings... wood pig graduated and was moving on to the bigger and better things... and that could mean only one thing, parting from old friends... although it was a sad event it didn't last for long... they were all soon reunited for a final class trip that took them to the farthest point on the east coast... the bad el headed overseas... but i don't think even that was far enough for her... and grandma got in on the act and retired after many many dedicated years..
reality: it was quiet for a couple of weeks...
July was smooshed into August
reality: i really don't remember what happened other than i got a little older somewhere in between...
September: school started up again for not only the el's but also for me... i had finally decided that it was time to go back and finish what i started... the el's were excited to see old friends and even more so to make new friends... me, i just wanted to get through all of my classes alive..
reality: i was kidding myself about being able to swing five classes in a semester... lol
October: ah Halloween and pumpkins... snake-dragon and i volunteered at the halloween dance that the bad el's class was hosting... it was fun watching the boys dancing on one side of the gym and the girls on the other... and while snake-dragon was given the elite position of "security guard/door watcher/bouncer" i was stuck manning the glow-in-the-dark novelty table... lol... i never realized how cool dancing in the dark while wearing a glow-in-the-dark necklace could be...
reality: it was really loud... really loud... lol... i can't believe we used to subject ourselves to such ear splitting "music" just so that we could flirt with boys...
November: Thanksgiving... this was our first thanksgiving in the new house so we decided that instead of doing our usual trek to our friend's house for Thanksgiving we would spend it together... and thanks to the magic of television and the help of
Zippy's Thanksgiving Dinners to-go we had a wonderful meal... we even went out the day after Thanksgiving to pick out our christmas tree... yay!
reality: we spent most of the time eating... but then again who doesn't, it's Thanksgiving...
December: good old Christmas... presents and joy and happiness... we also celebrated our first Christmas in the new house... the smell of the christmas tree and sugar cookies baking in the oven filled our house... it was great...
reality: i now know that salt is a very important ingredient in baking... thank you snake-dragon for this little tidbit... no wonder my dough was always so soft and sticky... lol...
so as we say good bye, sayonara, Aloha kakou to 2009 i have only good thoughts for great things to come in 2010...
